Virtual reality simulators fill that void. Virtual reality simulators, like tactile vr™, allow students to have a hands-on experience that provides a realistic “life-like” feel of daily procedures. Instead of just performing a Peripheral IV Insertion on a mannequin, with tactile vr™, students experience exactly what the procedure feels like on their end through the use of haptics. They will feel the pressure of the needle penetrating the skin and the “pop” of the vein.

When a student does perform an IV insertion for the first time, they will know exactly how it is supposed to feel, thanks to the realistic feedback from tactile vr™.  Because of this, students will be less likely to make mistakes.

There’s another feature that sets virtual reality simulation apart from mannequin-based simulation, and that’s the data results. After completing a procedure using tactile vr™, all of the data outcomes and metrics are automatically captured. This allows both the students, and instructors to see where a student needs improvement, and where their strengths lie.

Instead of an overview based on opinion that something “looks right,” tactile vr™ provides detailed documentation that demonstrates the students’ compliancy, proficiency and more, with actual metrics and statistics.
